"Radiate" is a zine created by Christine Avella and Robin Brown about the Dogs of Chernobyl. In 1986, after the nuclear meltdown at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, many families were forced to evacuate the area, never to return. Among the items they left behind were, tragically, their pets.

Despite the infamous radiation, the Exclusion Zone has been home to generations of stray dogs--descendants of the left behind pets of decades ago. Today, workers and volunteers are working hard to help these dogs: cleaning them of lingering radiation, treating their illnesses, and helping them find safe, loving homes.

It is the hope of Christine Avella and Robin Brown that readers will appreciate just how dreadful the lives of stray dogs can be, and encourage others to adopt dogs in need of homes.
